The African Union has prioritised various emerging technologies with the potential to improve health on the continent, including gene drives for malaria control, drones for improved health, gene editing, artificial intelligence, microgrids, and e-health.

We work at global, regional, and national levels (currently in Burkina Faso and Uganda). Our activities fall into three broad categories:

  • We synthesise and promote the use of evidence in tackling gaps in policy and regulatory frameworks relating to emerging health technologies.
  • We expand spaces for discussion on emerging health technologies in Africa to ensure African voices inform decisions at various levels.
  • We nurture champions for emerging health technologies in Africa.

Mission
